Wedding Ring

Your wedding ring is a wonderful possession. Not only does it hold the sentimental value of your special occasion, but it also holds a high monetary value. If your diamond or ring is lost, damaged, or stolen, how can you get it replaced?

There is no way to replace the memories attached to your ring but you can get another one of equal value with the right insurance policy. With over 100 years’ experience in the insurance business we’ve had to deal with many claims related to lost or stolen wedding rings. The value of a wedding ring is often outweighed by the sentimental value.

There are many reasons why a wedding ring will get lost. It may be because of carelessness on the owner’s part or due to the unfortunate incident of a robbery. Here are some tips to prevent your cherished possession from getting lost:

Do not leave a ring on the bathroom sink or the back of the toilet – this can result in the ring going down the drain.

Don’t leave your ring lying around, if you need to take it off for any reason – lock it away in a safe.

Make sure your ring fits correctly – a poorly fitted ring can slip off at any time and any place.

Check the clasps on your diamond regularly to make sure they are not loose. If you are going somewhere that you don’t feel comfortable wearing your sparkly ring – rather take it off and leave it at home in the safe.

Trust your gut feeling. Don’t offer would-be muggers the temptation. In the case of loss or theft in the home, your insurance policy will cover the loss, either in full or at least a percentage of the value (because there might be restrictions in the policy regarding jewellery that is not specified).

But you are not always at home when bad things happen. If you have jewellery that has a high value the best thing to do is to insure them separately on the All Risk section of your policy. The easiest and most accurate way of insuring your ring correctly is as follows: Have your ring appraised by a reputable appraiser. The appraiser will give you a certificate of value to keep in a safe place and/or send to your Indwe consultant. Indwe can then determine what the best insurance solution is for your circumstances.
