This popular competition gives residents the chance to nominate their favourite South African or Namibian town, bringing welcome publicity to smaller towns in both countries.<\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cAfter the huge success of last year\u2019s event, Indwe is once again a proud sponsor of Dorp van die Jaar,\u201d<\/i> says <b>Peter Olyott, CEO of Indwe<\/b>, a personal and business insurance broker. <i>\u201cSouth Africa has many tourist meccas, such as Cape Town and Durban, but this competition provides smaller towns with the perfect opportunity to raise their profiles and increase tourism to their areas.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>During the competition, residents are given the chance to promote where they live, by voting for their town. After two voting rounds, nine finalists are left. The power then swings to the public who put forward their votes and in May the winner will be pronounced as the Kw\u00eala Dorp van die Jaar 2016. Along with the title, the winner also receives R1 million in advertising from kykNET and they will host a festival where major artists will take to the stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both the television coverage and the festival turn the tourism spotlight firmly onto the winning town, which boosts the local economy, brings added attention to all the attractions in the region and creates a feeling of pride and unity amongst the town\u2019s residents. In addition, through the TV advertising, the competition\u2019s sponsors receive tremendous branding opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Olyott,<i> \u201dNot only are we a major sponsor of the competition, which contributes to the economic improvement of all the nominated towns, this partnership allows us to intensify our involvement in these towns enabling us to offer an even wider range of products and services to our clients and future clients in these towns.\u201c<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Apart from their sponsorship role in 2015 , Indwe also made contributions to charities in the winning town: Middelburg. They provided hygiene packs and blankets to Bethesda House of Hope and made a donation to the Middelburg Care Village in addition to an ongoing annual commitment towards the Middelburg Care Village.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cIt\u2019s a great local project that promotes the diversity of our country and celebrates all its people.
