Better yet, for all the parents, it overlaps with the school holidays.<!--more--><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nBut before you pack your bags and head off to a well-deserved break, read our Easter holiday safety tips.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Home alone<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nHome is where the heart is, here are a couple of pointers to follow to avoid having your heart broken when you go on your Easter holiday.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure your alarm system is working.<\/li>\n<li>Tell your security company you are going on holiday.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that there\u2019s a battery back-up for your alarm in case the power goes out.<\/li>\n<li>Check that all the windows are closed, the doors are locked and that, if you have them, all your security cameras are working and that you can monitor them remotely.<\/li>\n<li>Install day-night sensors or motion detectors outside your home.<\/li>\n<li>Ask a neighbour to check on your house \u2013 take out your mail, open and close your curtains, and turn your lights on and off.<\/li>\n<li>Put some of your lights inside and even your TV or radio on timers, to create the illusion that someone is home.<\/li>\n<li>Do not post your holiday plans on social media \u2013 criminals have access to the internet too.<\/li>\n<li>Explain to your house-sitter, domestic worker or gardener if anyone, such as a plumber, will come by while you\u2019re out, and emphasise that they may not open for anyone without your permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>On the road<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nBecause so many people go away over the Easter break, the roads are especially dangerous. When you go on a road trip, keep the following in mind.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NEVER drive under the influence, not even one glass.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re going on a long trip, take regular breaks to avoid getting overtired. Best yet, if there is someone with you, take turns driving.<\/li>\n<li>When you want to overtake someone, make sure you have a clear view of the oncoming traffic, you only overtake one vehicle at a time, and that no one is trying to overtake you. Never overtake someone on a solid line and NEVER take a chance with the oncoming vehicles. Rather wait the vehicles out than causing an accident.<\/li>\n<li>Do not speed. You\u2019ll have less reaction time in case of danger and a bigger chance of getting hurt.<\/li>\n<li>Take your car in for safety checks before you set out.<\/li>\n<li>Pay attention to other drivers \u2013 you might follow the road rules, but that doesn\u2019t mean they are.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nAlways remember, wherever you go this Easter Season, we are here for you.
