“The rising violent crime level in our country is something that can no longer be ignored by business,” says Peter Olyott, managing director of Indwe Risk Services. “It is because we share a concern for our lives and those of our loved ones, that we have decided to act in the interests of our clients by providing them with a solution to protect them when they are dangerously exposed to the threat of violent crime.”
RESQ1 addresses the need for protection when your home alarm security company is out of reach, in situations like your vehicle breaking down on the side of the road, being in an accident or facing arrest at a roadblock.
“Our clients’ safety is our number one priority and we felt that it would be irresponsible of us to not provide this vital service. Our partnership with RESQ1 has been welcomed by our clients and has thus far provided a strong supporting hand to those who are already using the service,” explains Olyott.
The success behind the service
Genevieve Bosman, managing director of RESQ1, says that the success behind the service is due to the commitment and professionalism of the people within Indwe, RESQ1 and its tactical, armed protection response unit. RESQ1 is a nationwide service with a control room and head office based at Rand Airport in Johannesburg. For more than 20 years they have been providing hijack management and vehicle recovery services to 90% of the vehicle tracking industry.
“The difference,” according to Bosman,” is that our teams are trained to handle situations where your average alarm response teams cannot and will not engage. Our combination of two management centres not only provide backup in case of multiple emergencies, but also provide crisis management and customer support, freeing up the security operations team to focus on getting a response unit to the scene as quickly as possible.”
Prevent crime to avoid becoming a target
On the 26th of January a client, Dr Kgalamono, called RESQ1 at 18:00 as his vehicle had broken down in Kagiso, west of Johannesburg. Because of the location of the vehicle and the time of day, the RESQ1 agent insisted on sending an armed protection response team to the client.
Within five minutes of the call the armed protection response team was dispatched and within 30 minutes the team had arrived at the scene. At this stage it was already dark, compounded by the fact that there were no working street lights in the area, and it had begun to rain.
Due to the extreme weather conditions and high call volumes, the roadside assistance team estimated that it would take between 45 minutes and an hour to reach the client. The armed protection response team guarded the client until 19:55, when his vehicle was towed away.
Dr Kgalamono expressed his gratitude that RESQ1 came to his rescue in such a short space of time and that the agent was so insistent on looking after his wellbeing, regardless of how he felt at the time.
The RESQ1 service is available to Indwe clients for a minimal monthly amount. It operates 24/7 and provides you with a responsive, competent service in the event of a crisis at your home or on the roadside.
