10 SIGNS YOU ARE TURNING INTO BRIDEZILLA

Planning a wedding can turn the calmest, mild-mannered woman into a terrifying creature who’s prone to outbursts of rage, and can throw tantrums that a toddler would be proud of!

Every bride wants everything to be perfect. But when your friends stop answering your calls and your family starts avoiding you – well, you can be pretty sure you’ve become a bridezilla.

We’ve put together a list of signs that you’re turning into a bridezilla – if you recognize yourself in any of them, you need to take a step back and reevaluate what’s really important.  Remember, wedding planning is supposed to be FUN!

Your parents apply for a second mortgage

If your mum and dad are paying for your wedding, be prepared to compromise – especially if they’re on a fixed income.  Demanding linen napkins embroidered with gold thread, insisting on the finest champagne, and refusing to wear anything other than Jimmy Choo shoes when you know your parents can’t afford it, are definite character traits of the bridezilla.

You’re angry, most of the time.

Before you started planning your wedding, you got along with friends and family just fine.  Before you started planning your wedding, you were a happy-go-luck kind of girl.  But now, no one understands you! Are you the only person on the planet who has ANY kind of vision for this wedding?!

Picture perfect

You want everyone in your wedding photos to look their best.  That’s fine. But demanding that your cousin gets a better haircut, telling your brother to make sure his girlfriend doesn’t stand at the front (to hide that she’s a bit fat), and hoping the photographer can use Photoshop to cut out your great-Aunt Maud completely?  That’s just not on – back in your box, Bridezilla – and don’t even think about insisting everyone wears a certain colour!

Your bridesmaids quit

If your bridesmaids threaten to quit and stop liking your Facebook wedding updates, chances are you’ve pushed them too far. They really don’t want to have to attend twice-weekly wedding status meetings.   Of course they’re happy for you, just remember they still have their own lives to lead and that the whole world doesn’t revolve around your big day.

You don’t have time for anyone (or anything) else

Did you have a life before you started planning your wedding?  If you can’t remember, and have no clue what you used to do or who you used to spend time with, then you need to get back in touch with your former life.

You don’t have neglect everything else in your life just because you’re going to say ‘I do!’

Other Bridezilla warning signs

You get angry because people aren’t choosing the really expensive items you included on you gift registry.

You’re crossing names off the guest list so you can spend more money on your dress.

And you truly believe the world will ABSOLUTELY come to an end if you don’t have those rare orchids in your bouquet.

CALM DOWN, bridezilla! If it’s all getting a bit too much, take a break from planning and do something completely non-wedding related.  Remember why you’re getting married (hint: it’s not just so you can wear a pretty dress and have a party) and relax.  Everything will be just fine.
