  1. Turn off lights in rooms you aren’t using
  2. Switch light bulbs to energy-efficient CFLs
  3. Only heat up the rooms that you are using
  4. Shut doors of rooms that aren’t occupied
  5. Seal gaps in door frames and windowsills
  6. Leave curtains open in the day to let in sunlight
  7. Insulate the ceiling
  8. Put a blanket on your geyser
  9. Switch off the geyser during the day
  10. Insulate your water pipes
  11. Only use the dishwasher when you have a full load
  12. Skip the pre-wash cycle for clothes that aren’t very dirty
  13. Reduce the temperature on the washing machine
  14. Hang clothes on the line instead of using a tumble dryer
  15. Unplug appliances that aren’t being used
  16. When replacing appliances choose energy-efficient ones
  17. Drink hot beverages to warm up from the inside
  18. Use blankets instead of heaters
  19. Layer clothes to stay warm
  20. Buy rugs for floors made of tile or wood
